Each year the Adamstown Fire Company requests your support through our annual fund drive. Each year, without fail, the community provides us with generous donations. Unfortunately, the funds that are generated through this only support part of our department's annual operating budget, which is not enough to cover the costs associated with capital expenditures- such as replacing a piece of apparatus. Our 2000 Ford F-350 Brush unit has reached its 20 year "Fire Service Life" and was scheduled for replacement during the year 2020. In 2018, the department formed a committee, in conjunction with the officers of the department, to research the needs for this specialized unit within the Adamstown Fire Company's response area. Through research the decision was made to refurbish the Brush unit, which proved to be a necessity for the protection of the wooded area that surrounds Adamstown Borough and to help protect the farmland and wooded areas of East Cocalico and Brecknock townships.

In June of 2020, the department officially elected to refurbish the 2000 Brush truck due to to the excellent condition of the chassis, along with replacing our 1999 Ford Expedition Squad. The cost to replace both the Brush truck and Squad was estimated at $345,000. By refurbishing the Brush unit and replacing the current squad (which was purchased used in 2009), it has allowed the department to achieve a significant cost savings of $221,000. Brush truck refurbishment is estimated at a cost of $50,000, while the Squad replacement will cost an estimated $74,000. The total cost for both apparatus is $124,000.

The Brush truck refurbishment will consist of some basic mechanical upgrades to the chassis, a complete refurbishment of the fire pump and plumbing, along with some minor lighting and electrical upgrades .The new squad will be a 2020 Ford F-250 that is specifically equipped to transport personnel, equipment, and gear to incidents, trainings, and other fire company activities.

We understand that many organizations ask for money, and there are times that you just give and give. Please remember the Adamstown Fire Company is a 100% volunteer organization protecting the residents and businesses of Adamstown Borough as well as portions of East Cocalico and Brecknock townships.

The bottom line is that we need your help. Our members have worked diligently over the past few years preparing for this expenditure. Aside from our usual fund raising methods, we have been awarded $15,000 in grants towards this project and applied for an additional $24,000 in grants which have not yet been awarded. Without your gracious help, a project of this magnitude would not be possible. The campaign goal is to raise $75,000 by December 2021 to have the necessary funds to complete this project.
